If we could package adrenalin and sell it we would have made a fortune from the supporters of Seat of Power, a recent winner at Newmarket. The atmosphere amongst the Trilogy Syndicate members was electric. Many of the members are first time owners who have for years had a passion for racing but have never had the privilege of owning a horse.

Alec Laird purchased this Riethuiskraal Stud-bred daughter of National Assembly out of Perfectly Placed (Rakeen) at last year's yearling sale for R350 000. Seat of Power was ridden by Johnny Geroudis and won in a time of 58,55 sec.

Seat of Power was the first of the three Trilogy horses to compete. The other two in the syndicate are Shiyabekhala and Time and Love, trained by Mike Azzie and Terry Lowe respectively.

The Trilogy ownership initiative was introduced to provide a cost-effective way in which new and existing owners could participate at the highest level. Three trainers were drawn from a list that took into account the percentage win and place success over the previous season. These trainers each selected a horse from the National Yearling Sale. Twenty shares were available and included keep until the end of the three-year-old career.

The Trilogy syndicate members are: ANTHONY MERCHAK; RAYMOND AND DAWN CROMMELIN; OWEN JONES & HANS WAGENAAR; MICHAEL LEAF; ERIC DU SART; THEMBINKOSI SIYOLO; SIZA KHAMPEPE; LIONEL GREWAN; PENNY BROODRYK, CYNTHIA ELSHOLZ, MERLE PARKER, COLIN GORDON; JACQUELINE MBOWENI; LAWRENCE KOPOLO; DR ELIJAH NKOSI; MPHO RAMAFALO; PETER MALUNGANI.
